One Week To Go!

So in one week on Labor Day I will begin this diet. I have begun thinking about the foods I will miss, which are mainly dairy items. Before I was pregnant with my daughter I was a lacto/ovo vegetarian. (that means I didn't eat meat but I did eat eggs and dairy). When I was pregnant all I craved was tacos and hamburgers so there went the vegetarian diet and while I still don't eat a whole lot of meat I never went back to the vegetarian diet.

I eat yogurt just about every day. I also like to have milk in my coffee and boy do I like cheese. All these things i will have to give up but I am willing to do it for the challenge. Who knows, maybe at the end of the 21 days I just might stick to it or a modified version.

Getting Started

OK so this is the first blog I have ever done but i thought what a great reason to start with the 21 Day Vegan Challenge. I chose the name "Veganize Me" because basillcy thats what I will be doing and its basically the opposite of "Super Size Me".  i am sure someone has already used the name for something else but I have never seen it so no harm no fowl right. LOL

The link is below. I hope it posted OK.

I have not start the challenge yet as it does not start until September 6th, which is also Labor Day. Not sure if that is a coincidence or not. What I have been doing is thinking and asking friends to join me. I put a link on my Facebook page too but so far only one co-worker has agreed to join. I hope to get more people to join and maybe have a Kickoff Day Dinner Party or something but we will see how organized i get ha ha.

I have no real plans except to stick to the main plan of being a vegan for 21 days. In preparation I have purchased 2 books today. Vegan Freak; Being Vegan in a Non-Vegan World by Bob Torres & Jenna Torres. I thought this would be a practical guide since most people I know are non-vegans ans the bright red distress cover just popped out at me. The other book I bough is more of a recipe book How It All Vegan! by Tanya Barnard & Sarah Kramer. This is the 10th anniversary edition and it won an awards from Veg News. I figured if its been around for 10 years and won an award, it must be good.

Well that's all for now and a good step towards preparation in my book.
